Wide Angle, Vol. 11

By Nick Salter, Junior Strategist

Our weekly round-up of the things that inspired us, challenged our thinking or left us with a warm, fuzzy feeling.

How a video game god inspired a Twitter Doppelgänger—and resurrected his career
An inspirational story about an influential game designer who was re-inspired by a Twitter parody of himself. A long read from Wired, but worth it if you’re looking for some motivation!

Fount: identify any web font you see
This is a great little bookmark for you creative types. Just drag it to your bookmarks bar and you’re set to go. To activate it, click it and then click on any font on the webpage to see an overlay with the font’s name, size, weight and style. Quicker and and way less painful than dealing with WhatTheFont.

Facebook demetricator – the unquantified self
These days the number of likes, comments and shares you get on Facebook from your peers seems to be viewed as some kind of huge commodity; a status symbol if you will. Somehow the more you get, the more credence your digital measuring stick has. Cut the bullshit with the Facebook demetricator and focus on what really matters: the conversation!
